BED TYPES

Which type of bed is for me?

Divan

Divan bases come in two types. The most common, platform topa solid surface which provides sturdy support for your mattress; or true edge, from brands such as Harrison Spinks, which have built in pocket springs offering greater sprung support to your mattress.

Our divans come with an extensive range of storage options including drawers and ottoman configuration.

Divan beds are easy to assemble and will arrive in one part (single or small single) or two parts (double, king or super king). You will simply need to attach the feet to your base and connect the bases together with the linking bar. If you have purchased an ottoman divan base, you will also need to secure the ottoman lids together by using the screws provided.

All our divan beds come with pre-drilled holes beneath the fabric to attach your desired headboard. You will simply need to screw the headboard bolts into the holes and then slide the headboard on.

Bed frames

A bed frame or bedstead is a traditional style base often with decorative features and details. Typically, they are manufactured from wood or metal. Wood frames generally feature clean lines and have a sleek look, with metal frames offering a more vintage style to the bedroom.

Frames generally offer a selection of finishes and colours and some are upholstered with fabric. Frames come in a huge variety of styles and many even offer a choice of a low or high foot end.

The base can be either fixed or sprung slatted. A fixed base will give you a more firm feel whereas a sprung slatted base will give greater support.

Bed frames are delivered flat pack for self assemble, often requiring a second person to help. Its a good idea to fully unpack all the parts and fixings and then read the instructions before starting to assemble, always following each step carefully from the assembly guide.

Bear in mind the dimensions of your bed frame will be slightly larger than the mattress due to headboards, footboards and side rails adding to the size of the bed.

Adjustable bed

These are beds which incorporate an electric motor which can raise and lower the foot-end and head-end of the bed independently.
They are particularly beneficial for people with certain medical conditions who need to sleep with either their feet or upper body raised. Please consult your medical practitioner before buying.
Of course, they are also ideal for anyone who just likes to sit up in bed to read or watch TV.

Our adjustable beds are available as divan base or with a low profile legged base, ideal if moving in and out of bed is difficult.

Day bed

Day beds are a great addition for rooms that don't have the luxury of space, or when the bed is only occasionally required. These versatile beds have dual functionality, making them perfect guest beds, for spare rooms, home offices, and other multi-purpose rooms where the bed is not the priority.

Day beds also make a great option for small bedrooms and kids’ rooms, as they can be used as a bed at night and provide a comfy seating area during the day.

Their dual functionality offers a seating area by day and a bed come night-time. Those with under frame pull out trundles allow a second mattress to be raised to the same height as the main top bed, so it can sleep two people.
