MATTRESS CARE

How do I look after my mattress?

To keep your mattress in tip-top condition and to prolong its lifespan, we advise the following:

Follow the turning and/or rotating instructions

All our mattresses are either single-sided (known as non-turn) or double-sided and depending on which one you choose, there are different instructions on rotating and turning over.

If you have a single-sided mattress for the first 3 months we recommend rotating your mattress from head to toe once a week. After that, rotate it just once a month.

If you have a double-sided mattress for the first 3 months we recommend that you turn it over and rotate it head to toe once a week. After that, turn it over and rotate it just once a month.

Seasonal turn mattresses should be rotated head to toe once a month and turned according to the seasons. See mattress label for information on season guide if applicable.

Doing this will prolong the lifespan of your mattress and ensure even settlement of the fillings. See below for information on settlement.

Always use a waterproof mattress protector

A mattress protector is essential to keep your mattress in tip-top condition. It’ll protect your mattress from perspiration damage, moisture, spills and accidents, plus save you money in the long run as you won’t have to buy a new mattress prematurely.

We recommend Protect A Bed Cotton waterproof mattress protectors. Ultra thin and breathable, they provide a full allergen barrier whilst protecting the mattress from all kinds of stain without making you hot.

General care

Never vacuum your mattress, this can disturb layer fillings. Using a mattress protector will keep mattress surfaces clean and hygienic.

Avoid jumping or sitting on the edge of your mattress, this puts undue strain on the mattress and can cause damage.

First impressions

Your new mattress may seem a little strange at first. The chances are that the springs and fillings in your old mattress were not what they used to be. Allow time for your body to adjust to your new mattress, and it to adjust to you.

It takes approximately 3 months for mattress fillings to settle. Whilst adjusting over this time you will notice dips. Please be aware this is a normal occurrence and not a cause for concern. A new mattress will settle/dip slightly in the areas that you sleep the most. The layers and fillings are simply responding to pressure point areas and providing support where you need it. Always follow turning and/or rotating instructions.
